Four Lessons I Have Learned From Developing Type 2 Diabetes
By Bentley Thompson

Being naive was not so bad after all. I had not digested all the "expert" opinions, so there was nothing to tell me I should not still look for a cure.

  • I thought I was too young to develop diabetes. I had not followed current research statistics that showed that this was not even an "adult" disease as such, everyone was getting it.
  • Thought I should not get it because my parents did not develop the disease.
  • I was not obese, most diabetics are obese. All along I was hoping the diagnosis was an error, but it wasn't. My A1c was getting worse and it wasn't lying.

Having a reason as "big as the world" was another of my blessings. Really wanting to get well is the greatest fuel that will drive your need to reverse the disease. I had three "big" reasons - my three young children.

When many of my friends were having fun and enjoying life, I spent many pedantic hours. You could say I started a family relatively late in life, and now I was facing the increased reality of not being around for them; to see them leave college and lead their own lives.

I started to think how my wife would be left to struggle not only with them but with me as well, maybe for longer than she would care to. It was scary thinking. Those first months as a type 2 diabetic were scary. They were depressing.

I decided I was going to be there in "full force" for my children, especially my only daughter. I was not going to "go down" so soon if I never had to. This reason was bigger than the world to me. It's my world at stake here, and there must be something I can do.

I read like crazy. What I began to find was encouraging. While most literature never talked about a cause, let alone a cure for type 2 diabetes, I remember a few articles talked about reversing the disease. I was "gullible" and I swallowed the news.

I attended a health seminar at my local church and the same message seemed to bombard me - reverse it. Soon I was on a makeover lifestyle which changed my diet, exercise habits, and rest patterns. Now I was walking for an hour "religiously" everyday and going to bed before 10 PM at nights.

I really believed this plan would work and I thought I had nothing to lose in trying on the recommendations. This was my only hope. I had tried metformin and another medication, I was on a diabetes diet with calorie restriction, but I still grew worse. I thought this homeopathic approach must be my last hope for some positive results. But I never expected such results so soon.

What really gave me the added push over the wellness edge, I believe, was the diabetes tea that lowered my glucose in ten days. With that encouragement I became an instant disciple and believer in natural remedies.

In hindsight, I now don't regret the metformin and the side effects I experienced taking it. Had everything worked fine, I'd be a "contented" drug taker today with glued dependency on pharmaceuticals.

Today, I am not on medication and my A1c is just over 5%, with just an occasional food supplement and a 100% natural diabetes tea that also helps promote a normal cholesterol level. I would not have this any other way.

So I've had my lessons, and I'm counting them too:

  1. It was alright to be naive in believing that I would not have developed type 2 diabetes.
  2. It is good to have BIG reasons for wanting to shake this disease off.
  3. Don't underestimate the effect of healthy lifestyle modifications that anyone can make at any stage in their lives.
  4. Lastly, there are effective natural products that can give your body just what it needs to help you reverse the disease. I am happy to have found the diabetes tea.
